MF Husain buried in London..
The deceased Indian painter Maqbool Fida Hussain was on Friday laid to rest at Brookword cemetery near London.
MF Husain who was living in self-imposed exile since the last many years, considered himself a citizen of the world and expressed his desire to be buried in the country where he died. Keeping with this wish, he was buried with Islamic rights at Brookword cemetery at Woking in south of London.
Husain had passed away on Thursday at London’s Royal Brompton Hospital. He was 95.
The burial was attended by Husain’s family. His four sons, Shafad, Shamshad, Mustafa and Owais and two daughters Aqeela and Raisa were present at the burial ground. A few close friends of Husain were also present.
The burial lasted about 45 minutes but was delayed for about an hour because the coffin was too big and a new grave had to be dug. The initiative by the Indian government to bring Husain’s body to India for a burial was apparently ignored by the painter’s family.
Preity Zinta now into film production…
Preity Zinta has launched her own production banner, PZNZ Media, and is all set to produce her first film this year, a romcom to be directed by Prem Soni.
Preity, who has yet to pick the cast for the film, tells a formal announcement will be made soon. A part of the film will be shot abroad, but strictly on a budget. The actress is confident that she will succeed as a producer because she can work hard and has the right instinct when it comes to film scripts.
“It’s an instinct for choosing the right movie that’d got me where I am today,” she points out.
A friend prompted Preity to turn film producer, pointing out that she had jumped into IPL without knowing anything about cricket so she could certainly produce a film.
“Of course, after that I took a course at the Harvard Business School, asked a million questions and gave two years to the game. Film is my core competence and it should be easier focusing on it,” Preity says.
“Suddenly, the sky is bluer, the birds are singing and life is so cool,” she adds.
Prem Soni’s last film, Main Aur Mrs Khanna, headlining Salman Khan bombed at the box office, but Preity is unfazed.
“I’d rather work with someone who’s fallen down hard than someone who’s at the top because he’s driven to go out there and prove a point to the world. Even Imtiaz Ali’s first film, Socha Na Tha, wasn’t a blockbuster but today everyone wants to work with him,” Preity says.
Akshay Kumar is in demand…
Akshay Kumar, who is currently shooting for Housefull 2 in London, had to finish dubbing for Transformers:Dark of the moon too before he left India for his schedule. Lending his voice to Optimus Prime in the Hindi version of Michael Bay’s Transformers 3, has led to Akshay Kumar dubbing for the sci-fi flick in two countries.
As per a sources, though the actor had dubbed for almost the whole film before he left India, there were certain portions of the film that the producers were not willing to bring to India just yet. “Michael Bay did not want these portions to be dubbed by the local dubbing agents as they are quite sensitive. And since Akshay could not have made it to Los Angeles, they decided to get the required content to London,”
Akshay, who is excited about being a part of the Hindi version of the film, agreed to do the dubbing for a big Transformers series fan his son Aarav.
Roshan family to attend the first screening of ‘Ra.One’
Ra.One’s final cut is almost ready and Shahrukh has invited the Roshan family to the first screening of the movie.
The buzz is that Hrithik is very excited after watching the promos of Ra.One and is eagerly waiting to watch the movie. But Shahrukh wants Hrithik to watch the very final product of the movie, since the music and the sound effects of Ra.One are currently being revved up.
Shahrukh Khan, said in an interview that Krrish is his and his kid’s favorite Indian superhero and he wants Hrithik to watch Ra.One and provide him with a feedback. He also praised Rakesh Roshan’s commitment towards his movies.
Yana Gupta’s item song too horrific to be aired on small screen…
Yana Gupta’s sizzling item song Zara Kareeb Se from Murder 2 will not be seen in the promos of the film, as the censor Board thinks it’s too provocative, and more than that, ‘horrific’.
As per reports, the raunchy item song where Yana is shown like an ultimate sex kitten appeared to the members of the Censor Board as gory and very suggestive. Thus unfit for TV screening.
According to Mohit Suri, the director of the film, the song is extremely in-your-face. “It was felt that the concept itself is not suitable to be viewed by everyone. The graphics are explicit. It needed an adult certification and on television you cannot monitor the audience,” the director is quoted as saying.
After the Censors prohibited the song from the promos, Mohit re-shot the song, which is a thrilling number, with the lead pair of the film Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez.
Murder 2 releases on July 8.

Shaitan, a movie which the Indian spectators will experience for the first time. It is this realism, edginess and awkwardness that stays with the audiences once they leave the theaters.
A story about five youngsters, who live life as if there is no tomorrow. They come from affluent homes, speeding through the streets of Mumbai in an expensive Hummer. Amy [Kalki], Dash [Gulshan], KC [Shiv], Zubin [Neil] and Tanya [Kirti] enjoy life, seeking for excitement all the time, till a moment changes everything. Well, they meet with an accident, killing two people on a two wheeler. Their actions to cover up lead them through a series of incidents, thus bringing out the inner ‘shaitan’ in all of them.
Inspector Mathur [Rajeev Khandelwal], who’s fighting his inner demons too, is handed over the responsibility of chasing the youngsters.
The story has the exact amount of ‘rage’, ‘psyche’ and ‘moments’. No dull moments. Both the first and the second halves were well balanced. The film gives us a glimpse of the erratic and inner psyche of today’s youngsters who live for the moment.
Talking about the star performances, Rajeev Khandelwal ( Mathur) as a cop was very very convincing, focused performance. Kalki was as usual excellent, giving a striking performance. Debut actors Shiv Pandit and Kirti both are fresh and will shock audience with their smart convincing act.The others were pretty decent and effective.
Debutant director Bejoy Nambiar has done a fab job. His content, is worth a praise. Right from the script to direction to narration to execution; everything is just about perfect. Madhi’s cinematography is spectacular. The car chase scene literally gets your hair to stand. Must say, very interestingly shot.
The film’s sound-track, which lists five composers including Ranjit Barot and Amar Mohile and a metal band, is peppy and simply superb. Dialogues are completely youth centric.
Final word: An adrenaline pumped thriller, a must watch flick for youth who love realism and edginess.
I give it a 4 on 5 rating…
