This year, once again, Salman Khan’s comedy “Ready” breaks the dry spell at the box office by earning brought Rs.41 crore over the weekend.
“Ready has had a good opening. The occupancy has been 90-95 percent. It is more of a family entertainer. One would not see the kind of action that was in ‘Dabangg’ and ‘Wanted’,” Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (Cinemas) of Wave Cinemas said.
“Salman is perfect in the film he has done full justice to his character. Asin, is also good in the film,” he added.
“Ready”, shot entirely in Thailand, is expensive, has an urban setting and is said to have cost Rs.50 crore.
Released on 1,900 screens, ‘Ready’ earned Rs.13.5 crore on the opening day, Rs.12.5 crore on Saturday, and Rs.15 crore on Sunday.
“People are enjoying the film a lot, specially Salman Khan, although the shows have not been back-to-back houseful like ‘Dabangg’ and ‘Wanted’. The audis have witnessed 80 percent occupancy,” said a source in PVR.
“The response to ‘Ready’ is terrific. Till now, our shows are going housefull. Everyone is appreciating Salman’s acting. It is too early to say whether the film will be as big as ‘Dabangg’ because today, every day counts because of the number of shows being played today,” Piyush Raizada of Delite Cinemas told.
At a time when most of the big-budgets, with big names like Akshay Kumar starrer “Patiala House”, Abhishek Bachchan’s “Game” and “Dum Maaro Dum” failed to stir the box office, Salman’s magic worked again as “Ready” has brought smiles on the faces of distributors, cinema hall owners and audiences alike.
Trade analysts, however, admitted that “Ready” will not enjoy long stay at the box office like “Dabangg”.
“The film doesn’t seem to sustain for long. We are looking at the occupancy. If it drops down to 50 percent then we will put another film. However, film is doing really well on single screens,” said the source from PVR.

Ex or current lovers, Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor are back together onscreen in Ayan Mukerjee’s next.
Says a source, “Ayan was going back and forth about who to cast in the film. It was a very difficult period given Ranbir’s relationship with Kat was on the rocks. They were going through a rough phase and it wasn’t clear if they would want to work with each other immediately or take a short break. Ayan’s heart was set on Katrina, but he was also considering options.”
Initiall, buzz had it that either Deepika Padukone or Anushka Sharma would be the leading lady of the project. However, now we learn is that Deepy was never in Ayan’s mind, though she is pretty close to the director.
The source reveals, Ayan wants to make a film with RK and Dippy but it isn’t this one. There was confusion after he told a couple of people at a party that he wants to make a film with Deepika.
Adding that this has been one of the toughest decisions for Ayan, the source says, Anushka would have loved to do the film and had even told friends how excited she was about getting to work with RK. But things didn’t workout and Ayan went back to his original choice Katrina.
Now, Katrina Kaif has been finalised for the leading lady opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Pre-production work for the film will start in the coming months and there will be an official announcement regarding the casting soon.

The latest that we hear about Sallu bhai is that recently, when Salman Khan was asked to comment on the Baba Ramdev episode, the handsome actor gave a witty reply.
The superstar said he knew of only three Babas — first, the Baba at home (his father Salim Khan); second, the Baba of Bollywood (Sanjay Dutt is fondly called Sanju Baba); and thirdly the Sai Baba of Shirdi.
Well, we guess this time Sallu wants to keep himself away from controversies. In the past, Salman got into trouble after he had commented on issues like the profiling of Muslims at American airports and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
Akshay’s jaw-dropping stunts in Housefull 2…
Akshay Kumar and danger go hand in hand. This time, the Khiladi Kumar is all set to performs a parachute stunt for his friend Sajid Khan’s comedy film Housefull 2 in London. Akshay will be seen jumping from a great height with a parachute.
“Akshay has never done anything like this before and he’s really excited. I’m cool because I know the greatest stuntman in the country will pull off the shot effectively. I couldn’t have asked for a better first shot,” director Sajid Khan is quoted as saying by a news agency.
“The scene is integral to the story and not just a publicity gimmick. We’ve kept it strictly under wraps because with six cameras stationed on the sets, we want to capture people’s reactions as Akshay jumps down from the heavens above,” Sajid Khan added.
Co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Eros International, Housefull 2 also stars John Abraham, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Asin, Zarine Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Jacqueline Fernandez and Mithun Chakraborty.
Salman-Shahrukh fight, no more a HOT topic…
Shahrukh Khan is one actor, who knows to deal with the media very very well. He always manages to answer even the most typical type of questions with his signature dimpled smile adding to it a dash of humor.
At the recent launch of Kanika Dhillon’s book Bombay Duck Is A Fish Shahrukh Khan was asked a question regarding his equation with Salman Khan.
“Questions on Salman and I are getting too boring and I don’t think anyone wants to even read it,” Shahrukh said.
On continuous pestering by the reporter, Shahrukh joked: “I may break into a fight with you.”
When asked if he really thought that he was number one in Bollywood, Shahrukh said: “I did say I play G.One in Ra.one as G stands for Gauri and One for me but it was all said in good humour. No one has to then think if I do consider myself number one! Having said that I have worked hard for 20 years and I need people to be responsible before asking such questions.”
We wonder, when will media differentiate between Shahrukh’s humour and his serious comments.

Box office reports…
Ready has become the second biggest Bollywood opener after Dabangg. The movie got off to a flying start on Friday with a nett collection of Rs 13.15 crore and rounded off the weekend with a business of approx Rs 40.65 crore.
The break down for the first three days is as follows: on Friday the collection was Rs 13.15 crore, on Saturday it was approx Rs 12.25 crore, and on Sunday the collections triggered up to Rs 15.25 crore.
Coming to another winner at BO, it’s the small-budget film Pyaar Ka Punchnama. The movie has gained tremendous popularity, thanks to the word-of-mouth publicity. Now, the movie is running at limited multiplexes with less number of shows but its collections are steady. In its second week, Pyaar Ka Punchnama collected approx Rs 3.50 crore. The two-week total is around Rs 9 crore which is good for a film like Pyaar Ka Punchnaama.
As for Ready, a lot depends on how it performs in the coming days because the distributors have paid huge amount for Ready, banking on Salman, and to cover it, requires a superhit business from the film. On Monday, Ready was steady, save for a drop in the collections in comparison to its first three days.
Aamir pays homage to Mithunda by spoofing Disco Dancer in Delhi Belly..
Mithun Chakraborty is known as the original disco dancer of India. Bollywood’s perfectionist, Aamir Khan has planned to pay homage to Mithunda in an all new style, in his upcoming flick Delhi Belly.
We hear that, Vir Das in the song Jaa Chudail will dress up as Mithun Chakraborty in Disco Dancer. He will also be seen executing the famous Mithunda step aka the pelvic thrust while manhandling a woman.
Delhi Belly, which has already been in the news for the released music videos DK Bose and Nukkadwale Disco seems to be drawing a lot of attention with its shockingly unique marketing strategy.
This is not it… In one of the scenes,we see Imran Khan mouthing maa-behan gaalis at his maamujaan. According to a trusted source, “It’s all in fun. But it will shock Aamir’s and Imran’s fans. Aamir has always been known to be this no-nonsense guardian-like figure to Imran. And we presume that his nephew is afraid to some extent of his uncle. Therefore, to see him let off a chain of maa-behen gaalis to Aamir is quite a shock.”
The whole aim of the music videos and the trailer in question seems to be to let people know that this is not a film for the squeamish or the purists.
Aishwarya-Salman to come face to face….
The industry is anxiously waiting to see if Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan will come face to face.
The occasion being the extravagant wedding of Mallika Reddy, daughter of socialites Pinky and Sanjay Reddy on June 10, the guest list of this high profile wedding includes not only Mukesh Ambani but also big luminaries from Bollywood including the Bachchans, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
Ash is most likely to fly down to Hyderabad. And Salman, who is very close to the Reddys’, also plans to visit Hyderabad for the wedding.
Ash has, so far, carefully avoided facing Salman to avoid nasty moments. Now, the two will inevitably come face to face and the whole of B- town is waiting to see what the outcome will be.
Salman is also likely to bump into his rival Shah Rukh in the party.
