Mallika’s item number,’Shalu’ is a complete copy…

Mallika’s item number,’Shalu’ is a complete copy…

Choreographer Ganesh Acharya has ripped off Farah Khan’s patented dance steps from Sheila ki jawaani in Tees Maar Khan, and Munni badnaam hui in Dabangg for Mallika Sherawat’s new item number Shalu ke thumke. The song features in the forthcoming Bin Bulaye Baraati.

His justification for ‘being inspired’ by the two songs that had everyone on the dance floor on New Year’s Eve in 2010, is a line from the new song: Munni bhi maani aur Sheila bhi maani, Shalu ke thumke ki duniya deewani.

Sources however, say Acharya was compelled by the film’s team, who believed that incorporating Katrina Kaif’s and Malaika Arora’s dance steps would add to Sherawat’s oomph quotient.

“It was felt that since Munni and Sheila have been mentioned in the lyrics, the trademark dance steps from the two songs should reflect in Mallika’s moves. Ganesh’s objections were quickly shouted down,” said a source.

Of course, Kaif and Arora are far from amused. “What was Mallika thinking when she launched into the Munni and Sheila steps? It’s not done. You can’t borrow steps just because the lyrics make a reference.
Choreography is patented just like tunes are,”
fumed another source.

Prakash Jaju, the film’s producer however, confirmed, “It was Anand Raj Anand’s idea, and we liked it,” he said. Jaju said Sherawat had no objection. “We offered her a choice of two item songs and she chose this one. We offered the other one to Shweta Tiwari.”

Farah Khan who has lately been embroiled in an extended tu tu main main with choreographer Ganesh Hegde, steered clear of controversy surrounding Acharya’s song. “I haven’t seen it. Maybe they are just spoofing the Sheila and Munni steps,” she said. When informed that Sherawat was dead serious in her item song, Khan, said, “In that case, I’m flattered.” Kaif and Arora are not.

‘Kick’ will see a lot more of Sonakshi Sinha…

‘Kick’ will see a lot more of Sonakshi Sinha…

This year and the next, will have us see a lot of Sonakshi Sinha. Her flicks include, Kick with Salman Khan, Rowdy Rathod with Akshay Kumar and Vishwaroopam with Kamal Haasan.

Ever since Dabangg happened, the the recently turned 24 years young actree has not looked back.

Sonakshi is currently shooting her second film, Shirish Kunder’s Joker, with co-star Akshay Kumar. She also features in Sajid Nadiadwala production’s currently filming Housefull 2, which has an ensemble cast of 18 leading actors so we assume Sonakshi will get limited screen time.

Of her three new films, Sonakshi is excited about Shirish Kunder’s Kick because she has a more substantive role in it than she had in Dabangg.

“Kick is a remake of South Indian film. The girl has lots more to do. It’s a very good role. I’m very kicked about Kick. Yeah, there’s definitely much more scope for me in Kick than Dabangg. And I am going to make the best of it,” Sonakshi told a popular tabloid.

Later this month, she will begin filming for her first regional, Vishwaroopam, with Kamal Haasan. Her look in the film will be both Indian as well western and you can expect to see her flaunting her curves in a lot of stylish saris.

“I love to see myself in saris. I hope I get to wear lots.”

Rowdy Rathod is a remake of S.S. Rajamouli’s Telugu 2006 film, Vikramarkudu. The Sanjay Leela produced film directed by Prabhu Deva is an intense action thriller in which Sonakshi will get to romance a small-time thief and crook (Akshay Kumar) who is crazy about acts of dare-devilry.

Akshay’s character takes on the notorious Chambal dacoits to revenge the death of his look-alike cop, Vikram Rathod.

There is more! Talks are on for her to pair up with Ranveer Singh, which could mean she may do a YRF film since Ranveer has a three film deal with them. He is currently filming for the second YRF film, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl.

“It’d be a good combination,” Sonakshi assures.

Salman-Ranbir’s enmity…

Salman-Ranbir’s enmity…

Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor can’t actually be called good friends. Yesterday, at an event in the afternoon, when asked about Ranbir and his much talked about item number in Salman Khan’s co-production Chillar Party, Khan did not mind answering them. enmity

The event launched the first promo of the children’s film. When the media, unable to contain themselves, asked Salman how he agreed to an item number by Ranbir in it, he laughed and said, “Director Vikas Bahl told me the concept of the Ranbir video. In it, kids after watching Ranbir perform, will decide that he is not good enough and they should go to Sallu. I immediately said yes.”

Salman, however, did not stop at that. Speaking about portions of the Ranbir song being removed from the first promo, he said, “It all depends on me. If I want, I can even remove the entire song.”

Well, looks like Salman has become quite the entrepreneur these days, trying to keep things subtle and politically correct.

Ready’s performance at the Box Office….

Ready’s performance at the Box Office….

Salman Khan’s latest film Ready, may have not got the best reviews from critics, but with cinemas packed the move is on its way to becoming a hit. The film may not be as big a hit as Dabangg was, it has managed to get the biggest opening of the year, with a projected total of 22 crores net in the first two days of collections.

The Ready box office figures already have the distributors heaving a sigh of relief and eyeing a fat profit as well. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the comedy film starring Asin and Salman Khan opened to a rip-roaring start on Friday. It saw the occupancy of 60 to 80 percent at both multiplexes and single screen theatres. Some shows in the evening registered a house-full.

The takings on Saturday were lower than the first day, and that is a cause of concern. The coming week will tell how big a hit Ready actually is.

Grade: A: Wah! Kya Film Hai :) :)

The much awaited movie of the season, Ready, has finally hit theaters today, 3rd June 2011. A remake of superhit Telugu film by the same name, Ready is a typical commercial cinema packed with humor and masala.

The story of the film revolves around happy-go-lucky Prem (Salman Khan), who is the most eligible bachelor living in an extended joint family and Sanjana (Asin), an orphan, who stay with her evil maternal uncles, Narendra and Tulsi. Her maamas are always plotting to steal away her ancestral assets, by persuading her to marry either of their brother in-laws. However, Sanjana sniffs their intentions.

Prem and Sanjana, fall in love, and the duo plans on teaching a nice lesson to the maamas. What follows is complete comical mayhem.. How Prem marries Sanjana, thus making her uncles realize their mistakes is the rest of the story. In short, the film revolves around how he unites the families of the girl and himself.

Bameez maintains his trademark, loud comedy, over-the-top acts and silly slapstick. The second half of the movie is when the actual story starts. The first half had a few scenes changed from the original flick, thus giving the much needed mass masala to Salman fans. However, Paresh Rawal’s character was ruined, though he was great in whatever he did. Bazmee failed to understand that in the original flick (Ready in Telugu) this character is the heart and soul of the film. There are a few vulgar jokes, which was not really needed.

Salman lived up to infusing life into the film. His mind blowing screen presence is simply superb!!! His sense of humour and the dance moves are the highlight of the film. Coming to Asin, she was a little pale in a few scenes, but the superb actress that she is, did the magic. The duo’s on screen chemistry is mind blowing.

The highlights of the film are 1) Salman Khan, 2) awesome comedy in the second half and 3) Dhinka Chika, Character Dheela songs. However, the only negative thing in the film was the action sequences. It was too weak for a Salman Khan flick, especially after his iconic Chulbul Pandey act.

The songs of film, ‘Character Dheela’ and ‘Dhnka Chika’ stole the show. Devi Sri Prasad Bollywood debut with his Dhinka Chika is the new chant of B town. Preetam’s music, needless to mention, mind blowing. Sajid-Farhad’s dialogues worked very well, elevating the humor. Sunil Patel’s cinematography is spot on. After a disastrous ‘Thank You’, ‘Ready’ sees director Anees Bazmee, back with a bang.
