Release date of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan postponed…

Release date of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan postponed…

The release date of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, a Yash Raj film starring Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar has been pushed from July to September 9.

The makers saw no point in releasing the film the same month as Imran Khan’s Delhi Belly and Katrina Kaif’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Says a source, “MBKD is YRF’s next big film. They decided to play it safe rather than battle it out with two other biggies starring their lead stars.

Imran Khan’s DB releases July 1 and Kat’s ZNMD is out July 15. The overlapping of stars might confuse audiences.”

Moreover, Imran and Katrina would also be required to promote their other films. As a result, there will be clash of dates and it could affect the publicity of their film.

Priyanka Chopra, who is not that busy with Don 2 and Agneepath remake, has started shooting for Kunal Kohli’s untitled romantic film with Shahid Kapoor.

Priyanka is styled by Manish Malhotra for the film and her make-up is done by the ace make-up artist Mickey Contractor.

When Katrina encountered a Shark…

When Katrina encountered a Shark…

Katrina Kaif plays the role of a diving instructor in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and essaying this role wasn’t as easy as she thought. The delicate actress had a scary encounter with a shark.

Prior to the film’s shoot, Katrina was trained in deep sea at the Otter’s Club in Bandra. The training involved control over breathing, and also the ability to manoeuvre oneself at depths. Kats was so perfect at it that she could even sit down at the bottom of the deep pool.

During the actual shoot of the film, Katrina dived into the ocean and just then a shark passed by her. The lady did not notice the danger but the crew overhead began gesticulating to give her a warning. However, Katrina just swam around, took a dive and emerged after some time.

Later, when the crew told Katrina about the shark, she was petrified.

Heer Aur Ranjha delayed….

Heer Aur Ranjha delayed….

Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heer Aur Ranjha has been sent back to the storyboard. And the leading man Shahid Kapoor’s dates that had been confirmed for the film will now go to waste. Reason: the film’s producer, Sajid Nadiadwala, isn’t happy with the script and has asked director Sabir Khan to rework it.

The film is budgeted at Rs 55 crore and Nadiadwala isn’t taking chances.

The delay has thrown Shahid’s schedule in a disarray; he was to work on the project after completing Mausam.

“The second-half of the script was not working,” Sajid told a tabloid. “I’ve asked Sabir to work on it and deliver by April 30. I can take this liberty with Sabir.”

Heer Aur Ranjha is a contemporary take, set in New York City, on the Heer-Ranjha legend. It is reported to be an action-romance, not a pure romance drama.

Shahid Kapoor will train for two months under French stunt director Philippe Guegan to get into shape for the actioner.

Madhur Bhandarkar in search of a new actress for Heroine…

Madhur Bhandarkar in search of a new actress for Heroine…

The star cast in Madhur Bhandarkar’s much talked about project, Heroine, is getting bigger and bigger as days are passing. The director wants to add a supporting character, based on the life of the late actress, Nadira.

So now, Madhur is in search of a 70 to 75 year-old actress to match and essay this Bollywood diva.

According to a source, “Madhur Bhandarkar has changed the character’s name, but she is clearly modeled on Nadira. It’s a role of a yesteryear actress, who led a lonely, isolated life, without family and friends.

She simply relived her glorious days as a screen queen with people who visited her. It’s the frightening face of Bollywood – the other side of the glamor business, much after all the star attention fizzles out.”

Bhandarkar’s search is going really tough. When contacted, he refused to comment.

Royal treatment for Salman and Kareena..

Royal treatment for Salman and Kareena..

Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s arrival in Patiala recently for the third schedule of Atul Agnihotri’s Bodyguard, created a buzz in the former princely state widely regarded as Punjab’s cultural capital, where museums, palaces and parks abound.

Salman and Kareena are staying and shooting at Neemrana hotel Baradari Palace.

Opened four years ago, the heritage-hotel is housed in a 19th century palace of Patiala Maharaja Rajinder Singh. In Bodyguard Baradari Palace is shown to be Kareena’s house.

The hotel’s manager tells a popular tabloid that the filmmakers have exclusively booked the hotel from May 25 to June 23. A notice on the hotel’s gate says it will remain closed to public until then.

The hotel had earlier hosted the Deols during the filming of Yamla Pagla Deewana – the sprawling house where Anupam Kher is shown as living with his extended clan.

The hotel with 11 suites and 6 rooms has been placed under tight security by its management, even though Salman is traveling with his own security detail from Mumbai.

Production team member arrived in the city well ahead of the stars to overlook the arrangements.

Other cast members joining the Patiala schedule include Raj Babbar and Hazel. Shatrughan Sinha is not part of this schedule, said the production member.

The three digit temperatures of Patiala are not beckoning enough for Salman to enjoy the sprawling gardens of the palace.

“Salman has been in his room which has been cordoned off by his security men since the time he arrived in the city,”
the hotel manager told.

“We have not yet received any special requests from either Salman or Kareena but Salman did inquired about workout facilities in the hotel.”

While Kareena plans to stay in Patiala through the entire duration of the shoot, Salman will be in and out of the city since Ready is releasing on June 3.

Imran talks about his “naughty boy” image, Ranbir Kapoor, etc, etc…

Imran talks about his “naughty boy” image, Ranbir Kapoor, etc, etc…

Imran Khan’s sudden ‘naughty boy’ image on-screen is making waves all over. In an interview with Zoom, he talks about his lover boy roles, brand wars Ranbir Kapoor and popularity polls.

After SRK and Salman, you’re the hot new loverboy…

I think I’m cast in romantic roles partly because of the way I look, and my age. There’s certain age where you fit into those roles, you have to grow up a bit before you can do more serious roles.

So you wouldn’t experiment like Ranbir did in Rajneeti? In fact, people felt it was too early for him to play that role?

The first major experiment that I’ve done is Delhi Belly, which is not a romantic film. Apart from that, most of my work is in the classic commercial Bollywood style. I don’t think Ranbir made a wrong choice because Rocket Singh was his third film and he was excellent in it. The film didn’t do well commercially but got a lot of critical acclaim. I see absolutely nothing wrong in pursuing such roles if it suits you.

Your brand war with Ranbir made headlines…

We have our brand loyalties, and we endorse rival soft drinks, but that war had started even before we were born. He does more endorsements than me, so I don’t think we intrude in each other’s space. Even in terms of films, we have our own space, and there’s a certain level of respect we have for each other. I know he’s never said anything wrong about me, and whenever there’s a doubt we talk man-to-man.

Marriage has obviously not affected your popularity?

The top stars in our country are married and there’s never been any debate about their popularity. In fact, I believe it adds to your popularity because people see you as loyal. And I wouldn’t like to change my real life image, because that’s who I am. I’ve always been open about who I am, whether it’s my relationship with Avantika or my friendships. I think people see me as a nice, romantic and dependable guy. They don’t see me as a casanova; hence, I get offered a certain kind of roles and brands.

You think Ranbir’s single-ready-to-mingle status gets him into media trouble?

That’s true, but the fact is that Ranbir is a young star and he’s in a position where he can enjoy life. He’s not attached to any one person, and if he enjoys life, wine, women…there’s nothing bad about it. Ranbir’s not doing anything illegal, but if media wants to write about it, you can’t stop them. Its unfair to say what he’s doing is wrong.

Recently, Salman said that after the Khans, Ranbir and you are the next superstars…

“It’s scary because today the three big Khans are still ruling Bollywood, and younger stars like us are trying to catch up with them. Sometime soon, the industry will turn to us and we have to take it forward. It’s a big responsibility.”
